WIP Wedneday: I'm Beat

Work has been taking up a lot of my time and energy lately.   It's very satisfying work (a project that I've wanted to do for years now) but it's also much more intensive than my job usually is.  I've gotten a lot of positive feedback about my job performance and that feels awesome!  It's nice to know that someone notices.

On to the knitting stuff:

Snow White in Valley Yarns Sugarloaf

I'm currently on the bust shaping (which you can see in the picture).  I have holes behind my increases that I will need to fix but otherwise I'm liking the way it looks.

Tech Guy Socks in Knitpicks Gloss

I'm making Michael a pair of Tech Guy socks for his birthday (June 19th).  I'm working them two at a time, the design is done in duplicate stitch.   I'd say I'm almost done with the feet.

Flit 'n Float scarf in Jaggerspun Zephyr

This is my current favorite.   I love the ruffle!  It's such a pretty Tiffany blue that will go well with most coats.    

This year is going to be a slow knitting year but I think I'll still get some FO's that I love!

Hippity Hoppety

We had a fantastic Easter weekend.   We had 3 seperate Easter celebrations.  We celebrated Easter with our own little family (Michael and I) at breakfast, with my mother's family at lunch, and with my future in-laws for dinner!

Michael and I exchanged baskets while noshing on Awesome-est Blueberry Muffins from Pioneer Woman.  It turns out that The Yarn List came in handy for Easter!

Fo Friday: Some Quickies

This FO Friday brings two recently completed projects that I finished in less than a day.

Pattern: Quickie Cowl by Fawn Pea

Yarn: Tilli Tomas Simply Heaven in Moss

I love this little cowl.   Of course, I probably won't be using it until December but that's cool.  I used almost the whole skein of yarn and knit 19.5 inches.

Yarn: Katia Jamaica colorway 4008

 

I picked up these little bags for my sisters for Easter from Bath and Body Works.   They contain little goodies but there's still lots of room in the bags so I made some washcloths to stuff them with.   Now the bags look nice and full and I think the washcloths are perfect for Easter!

FO Friday: Cozy

Pattern: Cozy by Danielle Schoonover.   Featured in Knitty, Fall 2004.

Yarn: Debbie Bliss Pure Silk

This was a nice shawl to cuddle up with during the windy times on our Western Caribbean cruise.   It was super soft due to the 100% silk yarn but was also warm.  It does not hold shape very well but that doesn't really matter with a shawl.

The pattern is easily memorialized but seems to go on forever since the finished object is really really long, especially when blocked.  If I were to knit this again I would make it a bit shorter.  All in all I'm pleased with my Cozy because it got the job done and it looks fantastic!

Warning: Sporadic Posting Ahead

I know that I haven't been very consistent with my blog posting this year.  A lot of things have happened and it's been very busy here at Chez Snead.  I'd love to say that I'll start blogging more but it's not a promise that I feel like I can keep.   But I'm certainly going to give it a try!

Some of the things that we've been doing are:

Painting the guest room.   Pictures to come soon.


Making massive IKEA trips.


Attending the Epcot Flower Festival.


More wedding planning.   This is the courtyard where our reception bar will be located.


Taking over family and friends refrigerators with our adorable magnets.


Stopping cats from eating mass quantities of pretzels through the bag.


Buying spring yarn!   The Katia Jamaica on the left will be used for fun washcloths and I am making a gift for my grandmother with the 2 balls of lace weight Jojoland Harmony.

I've also been knitting!   I finished my Bamboozled headband and I have to say it's really cute.

I also finished up some Super Mittens from Weekend Knitting with leftover Plymouth Baby Alpaca Grande.   I know this isn't the season for mittens but I wanted to use up the yarn!  I can only show you one mitten due to the lack of a photography partner (he's at work).

 

I also finished up Ms. Marigold but you'll have to wait for some pics.   She's currently MIA (somewhere in my hope chest).

I started on Snow White, a Ysolda pattern.   I'm using Valley Yarns Sugarloaf (it's a lot like Rowan Calmer) in a clearance color!   I think it looks great so far and this isn't a color that I have a lot of in my wardrobe so it's a good choice.  I'm trying to branch out.

 

I also finished one of Michael's Globetrotter socks and moved on the second.   No Second Sock Syndrome here!  Ok... maybe it was here for a day but it's moved on.

 

Next I plan on casting on for the Quickie Cowl.  Because everyone made cowls this past winter and I want one too but I'm a little late to the game.   Nothing unusual there...

Tomorrow... pictures of my Cozy which kept me plenty cozy in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico in February.  Oh!   And eventually there will be cruise photos.
